Sun Dumb Gives Us Some Nostalgic Vibes With “Tokyo”

The outstanding duo known as Sun Dumb is a new collaboration between musicians and producers Ryan Coughlan and Julian Sudek. Born in a Sydney studio and baked under the Australian sun, the Sun Dumb sound plays true to a soul defined by melodic vocal tracks wrapped up in classic acoustics and contemporary synth riffs. Formed in 2020 and based on a shared love of alt electronica and the desire to create music from the heart and not from a brief, creators Ryan Coughlan and Julian Sudek met while working together at Ryan’s Fox Studios residence. Coughlan is an accomplished musician and sound engineer with engineering credits including The Voice and X-Factor. Sudek is a renowned musician and composer/producer who has worked and performed with artists including Mark Ronson, Jamie XX, and Nick Littlemore and is a founding member of ‘World Champion’ of the Future Classic family. With the first release of their single “Tokyo” and I can already feel the potential this duo has, gathering influences from Empire of the Sun, MGMT, Neil Frances, Tame Impala, they structure this single so well. They present a such nostalgic sound that will surely intrigue your ears. Beginning with sweet and dreamy instrumentation leading onto their soft and delicate vocals they complete the song fully. Explaining the track a bit further it’s taken from their debut EP and sets the tone for the Sun Dumb style that lives in today but pays the occasional tribute to a bygone era through nostalgic pop beats. To the vocals and production, this track will surely have you vibing. Being just perfect for a late-night drive or a day out on the beach. Go stream “Tokyo” and check out their discography.
