PEPTALK, a Melbourne-based trio made up of Jay-Lee Kwan, Lara Frew, and Phoebe Sinclair, radiates warmth and authenticity. With two-thirds of the band identifying as queer, two-thirds POC, and all of them proudly female, they’ve committed themselves to being the kind of representation they wished they’d seen growing up. The trio has already carved out an impressive songwriting career, penning tracks for artists across continents—from the USA and South Korea to France and New Zealand. Their feature on LDRU’s “Alone Again” elevated their listenership dramatically, while their K-pop cut with Rumble-G added international flair to their growing list of achievements. Lara and Phoebe, who produce under the name Middleman, are the backbone behind PEPTALK’s sonic direction, and their work caught the attention of none other than Troye Sivan, leading to their inclusion in the prestigious APRA AMCOS Pride songwriting camp in 2023.

ELLES, a nomadic Canadian singer-songwriter with a backpack full of stories and melodies, brought her worldly perspective to the studio. Her time in Australia, though short, proved to be creatively pivotal. “Timezones” was written with a deep understanding of what it means to be far from home, torn between adventure and longing, joy and solitude.
