Talented artist nodisco. is the moniker for genre-breaking artist, Chris Toufexis. A bit of a musical enigma, his record collection contains Ready For The World to Jimmy Eat World and everything in between. He taught himself to sing via Brian McKnight, The Carpenters, and Morrissey; he learned guitar listening to John Martin, Joao Gilberto, and John Mayer. Part of his creative output is rooted in the fact he can’t read music. He is a fan first and just finds a way to make the sounds happen. He has an extensive collection of rare 90’s R&B vinyl and 90’s Rolling Stones magazines from which he draws inspiration. As Toufexis puts it, “In a world of music that seems so incredibly passive these days, nodisco. creates records that people won’t just remember for the music, but for the story. From the storytelling to the physical copies and visuals, each nodisco. record is made for the listener to have a world to live in.” This has paid off with radio placements on the CBC and landed his songs on MTV’s Siesta Key and MLB Network. He also played his first ever headline shows in Spring 2022 in LA, NYC, and ended in Toronto to a sold-out crowd with more shows to come in 2023. Following the release of his newest single “The Symptoms of Vanity,” he projects a dazzling sound that will definitely intrigue your ears. Starting with bright instrumentation leading onto his smooth and catchy vocals he completes the song fully. Explaining the track a bit further it’s based on a page this girl handed him one night from the published version of Kurt Cobain’s diaries called “Journals”, where on one page he writes, “It’s hard to decipher the difference between a sincere entertainer and an honest swindler”, which then inspired him to think about saying the truth as a songwriter and what that even means, as he plays with the common lyrical pop tropes of today. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you dancing and singing along to the lyrics. Being just perfect for a drive during sunset or hanging out with some friends. Go stream “The Symptoms of Vanity” and check out his discography which is filled with sensational tracks.
