Natalie Clark’s “A Place Called Home” Hits the Airwaves

Scottish school teacher Natalie Clark’s journey from the classroom to the stage began with a spontaneous singing request from Sir Richard Branson. Her blossoming music career was set in motion, leading her from Scotland to Los Angeles, where she has just signed a recording contract for her debut album.

Natalie learned the power of taking the bull by the horns when her life took a dramatic U-turn one fateful day while attending a BBC Radio 1 Academy event hosted by Nick Grimshaw. Guest speaker Richard Branson spontaneously invited Clark to sing onstage. Accepting his challenge, she charged her powerhouse vocals and stunned everyone with her original song “Weakness.”

“That was absolutely and utterly stunning,” Branson proclaimed. “No backing band, no musicians, no forewarning.”

This lesson in carpe diem, and the resulting headlines in the UK, set the ball in motion for Natalie Clark’s music career. She left teaching and her hometown in Scotland and headed to sunny Los Angeles to pursue her musical dreams. Since moving to the States, Natalie has opened festivals, toured the country, and was selected as a Mercedes Benz KTLA “Artist to Watch.” Natalie was featured in the Mercedes Benz commercial campaign, which included performances at the famous Roxy on Sunset and The Greek Theatre in Los Angeles. She was handpicked to open for the Grammy Award-winning Indigo Girls tour and has received acclaim from multi-platinum artists such as Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton. Natalie was named a ‘Hot 100 Live Artist’ in Music Connection Magazine, and her music is featured in several Netflix shows and on the soundtrack of a feature film. Natalie’s song ‘Ready to Roll’ won ‘BEST ORIGINAL SONG’ at the Austin Under the Stars Film Festival. Richard Branson even wrote a series of articles about her music and journey since their magical encounter.

Having landed a record deal, Natalie’s debut album is set for release, with her first single, ‘A Place Called Home,’ which came out this summer on DVG Records.

“A Place Called Home” is the first single from her upcoming debut album, which Clark wrote and also co-produced with L.A.-based producer Todd Spadafore. The song is a synth-based pop record that mixes raw, vulnerable lyrics and vocals with a hard-hitting chorus that echoes the yearning to find your place in the world, to find a Place Called Home. Clark says of the song, “I wrote the song when I had moved from Scotland to L.A. and hadn’t figured out a place to call home. I was on an adventure of moving country and pursuing my dreams, but with all the excitement and highlights, there’s also some loneliness and wanting to find some security – wanting to find a Place Called Home.”

For this Scottish firebrand, life is an adventure, and she invites you along for the ride!
