MXE, the pseudonym for British singer-songwriter Gabrielle Robinson, has been making music since the age of 7 when she began playing the violin in multiple orchestras. Drawing inspiration from her idol Beyonce, MXE eventually transitioned into contemporary music, performing with R&B stylings and writing songs based on her life experiences and everyday thoughts. MXE has received attention from Japanese publications such as FNMNLTV and Blockfm and has been featured on BBC Introducing and BBC CWR’s First, Last, and All-Time segment. MXE is currently working on new music and her debut EP, which is set to be released in late 2022. JunaSwon is a Japanese producer who takes inspiration from idols such as Frank Ocean, Prince, Nirvana, and Thelonious Monk. Starting his career as a guitarist at the age of 13, JunaSwon discovered his passion for production in 2018, using stylings from his influences to create the atmospheric R&B sounds he shares with listeners today. Following the release of his debut single “If You Want Me,” JunaSwon is excited to continue sharing his music with the world. MXE and JunaSwon’s newest single, “Dumb Dumb,” is an upbeat, carefree track that everyone can dance and sing along to. Inspired by Nicki Minaj, MXE wanted to write a lighthearted lyrical piece to contrast with the deeper themes of her EP “Golden.” While “Dumb Dumb” touches on body positivity, it primarily celebrates self-confidence. MXE explained that she struggled to write the song because it was a departure from her usual style, but she was happy to challenge herself and create something that is sure to bring a smile to listeners’ faces. If you’re a fan of R&B, pop, and upbeat beats, be sure to give “Dumb Dumb” a listen.
