Talented duo LADY SLOTH is the indie rock project of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter, Justina Shandler, and percussionist/songwriter, Jon Lane. Growing up on opposite sides of the country (Jon in California and Justina in Virginia) both were big players in their respective scenes. Jon’s former band, Uprooted, landed multiple placements with Redbull, and Justina’s solo project has a prominent feature on Hulu show Good Trouble as well as a handful of placements on Temptation Island, and one on the Amazon Prime series Forever Summer: Hamptons. Brought together by a shared love of indie phenoms, Phoebe Bridgers and Dawes, LADY SLOTH was born in a hotel room on vacation in Cambria, California. Jon said to Justina, “Hey we should write a song together.” After several pages of scribbles and one bottle of wine later, their first song was born. The band tactfully employs blaring guitars and driving rock rhythms to carry their charmingly confessional lyrics, creating a sound all their own. With the release of their debut single “Sugarloaf Mountain Road,” they present a sparkling sound that will certainly intrigue your attention. Beginning with dreamy instrumentation leading onto Justina’s bright and full vocals they complete the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s a driving and crisp alt-rock gem packed with poignant lyricism centering around the white lies we tell in our youth and the irony of hindsight. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you dancing and singing along to the lyrics. Being just perfect for a drive during sunset or jamming out with some friends. Go stream “Sugarloaf Mountain Road” and be on the lookout for new music from this outstanding duo.
