Upcoming artist Juliana Dominguez is an indie Latina female singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist born and raised in North Bergen, New Jersey. She began to show an interest in singing at the young age of 2. As a kindergartener, she sang with the choir at the Academy of Saint Joseph’s of the Palisades. The experience intensified her interest in music and her desire to sing well. By age 13 she auditioned for entrance and was accepted to the pre-college division for gifted teens at Manhattan School of Music with a concentration in Voice. The program runs on Saturdays, so she spent her Saturdays in an intensive course at the school. Courses at MSM included musical theater, ear training, music theory, and an opera workshop. In her freshman year of high school, Dominguez began playing around with GarageBand. She would find the backing tracks to her favorite songs and attempt to recreate the vocal production and harmonies. She also created Acappella covers using the Acapella app. In the summer of 2020, Dominguez auditioned and applied for Berklee College of Music over Zoom. It was an opportunity to apply early given to those in the Berklee summer program. In her senior year of high school, Dominguez began taking guitar lessons after having been playing simple guitar chords for years. She finally downloaded Logic Pro X, GarageBand’s older sister, after years of working on GarageBand. This opened up a new world for Juliana. She also got accepted to her dream school, Berklee College of Music, with a scholarship. Dominguez is now entering her sophomore year of college at Berklee. She has been accumulating several skills throughout the years and perfecting her craft. She has always known what she wanted to do. With the release of her debut track “hey pretty boy”, she presents a dreamy sound that will certainly grasp your ears. Beginning with bubbly instrumentation leading onto her sweet and soft vocals she completes the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s about a boy that she had been seeing. She texted him, “hey pretty boy :),” and asked if he wanted to hang out. He said he was busy and kind of brushed her off. She was a little anxious and upset about it, but decided to channel that energy into a song. She looked back at the text, “hey pretty boy :),” and thought to herself, “that should be a song,” so she got to writing. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you dancing. It would be just perfect for a drive during sunset or out for a picnic. Go stream “hey pretty boy” and be on the lookout for new music from this amazing artist.
