Jordyn Tareaz, a pop singer-songwriter and producer from Potomac, Maryland, is making waves in the music industry with her powerful vocals, clever lyricism, and catchy melodies. At just 22 years old, Jordyn stands out as a unique talent, combining her musical skills with a deep understanding of the industry’s intricacies. After years of honing her craft, Jordyn made her debut in January 2022 with the single “So Good (On My Own).” This track showcased her vocal prowess and knack for writing relatable, catchy songs. Her hard work quickly paid off, and within a month of her debut, she opened for Warner Music Group artist Maude Latour at the Songbyrd Music House in Washington, DC. March 2022 brought further recognition as Billboard Magazine highlighted her talents and her involvement in the World Woman Hour soundtrack. Jordyn continued her musical journey with her second single, “Can’t Talk,” released in September 2022. This introspective song explores the bittersweet space between longing for closure and missing someone you know you shouldn’t. The single garnered significant attention, debuting on Ones To Watch’s “Now Watching” playlist and receiving praise from various publications, including Leftfuturewave, Tongue Tied Mag, and Women That Rock. Since “Can’t Talk,” Jordyn has dedicated herself to refining her skills in the studio, focusing on her debut EP. This period of intense work has seen her grow more confident and empowered, ready to reintroduce herself to the world with her most vulnerable music yet. In addition to her musical endeavors, Jordyn completed her studies at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communication in May 2023. She studied music business through the prestigious Bandier Program for the Entertainment and Recorded Industries. During her senior year, she also launched her show, “Let’s Talk with Jordyn Tareaz,” which discusses navigating the creative industries and addressing mental health issues. With her new single, “Again,” which released on February 9. This soul-stirring track delves into the complexities of relationships, vulnerability as a young Black woman, and the challenges of self-sabotage. For this poignant ballad, Jordyn collaborated with co-producer Sabrina Song, an indie pop sensation who achieved viral success last year, and her creative partner Emma Rose Botti. Building an all-female team around her is crucial for Jordyn, as she aims to make her artistry as inclusive as possible. She passionately remarks on the importance of supporting women in the music industry, from production to publicity and marketing. Described as surprisingly reflective, “Again” brings a new dimension to Jordyn’s catalog of singer-songwriter pop. The song’s intimate storytelling and emotional lyrics reveal Jordyn’s firsthand experiences with the difficulties of opening up in relationships. She emphasizes a key message behind the song: “I want to show my Black audience that it’s safe to cry and unapologetically lean into all emotions that you may be feeling.” Jordyn aims to break down stereotypes about how a Black woman should express herself, striving to be authentic and allowing herself to grow. Drawing inspiration from artists like Lauren Spencer Smith, Olivia Rodrigo, Sabrina Carpenter, and Tate McRae, Jordyn creates a relatable and comforting space for her listeners. She explains, “This song is about recognizing my faults and flaws, acknowledging how I contributed to pushing away someone who was really good for me. It’s a departure from my previous songs like ‘So Good’ and ‘Can’t Talk,’ as it calls out my own mistakes rather than blaming others.” As Jordyn Tareaz bares her soul in “Again,” she invites listeners to join her on this emotional journey, creating a space for reflection, healing, and connection.
