Jaclyn Bradley is an indie singer-songwriter whose journey through the world of music is as remarkable as her talent. Best known for her appearances on The Voice of Holland, Ireland’s Got Talent, and VH1’s Breaking Bonaduce, she has left an indelible mark on the music scene. Jaclyn, a native of Lorain, Ohio, first fell in love with music through her opera studies at Indiana University.
After graduating, she moved to New York City just ten days before the 9-11 attacks. The tragic event deeply affected her, especially since her roommate worked in one of the towers. In the aftermath, Jaclyn picked up her guitar and began to write. This pivotal moment led to the recording of an album with her New York-based band.
Her journey continued west to Los Angeles, where she became a solo artist, recording two albums and making a name for herself in the LA music scene. As a backup singer, she worked with notable artists like Ty Stone, Michael Satrazemis, and Gretchen Bonaduce, and performed alongside Terri Nunn of Berlin. Jaclyn’s music was also featured in several television shows and films, enhancing her reputation as a versatile and talented artist.
Jaclyn’s life took another significant turn when she became a personal assistant to Danny Bonaduce, filming two seasons of the VH1 series Breaking Bonaduce. Her original songs were not only licensed but also performed live on the show. Beyond her work in entertainment, Jaclyn is a board-certified music therapist, leading the largest music therapy study in history, which was published in the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
While living in Europe, Jaclyn continued to shine, recording two albums and performing on prestigious platforms like The Voice of Holland and Ireland’s Got Talent. Her music and documentary film, Made of Gold, received global recognition, and her short film/music video, Love the Bodies We’re In, premiered at Graumen’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Returning to her roots, Jaclyn moved back to Lorain, Ohio, in late 2019, just before the pandemic. This move was a significant part of her journey, allowing her to reconnect with her hometown. In 2020, she founded Rock Town Music Academy, where she teaches students of all ages to discover their unique voices. Her dedication and passion for music education have earned the school accolades, including being named the best music instruction in the county.
Jaclyn’s latest single, “Hometown,” is a testament to her journey and personal growth. The song was inspired by a profound conversation with a Buddhist monk in her Ireland apartment. The monk, who worked at McDonald’s, shared wisdom about reincarnation, which resonated deeply with Jaclyn, especially as she faced the end of her marriage. This period of transformation led her back to Lorain, where she found solace and a new beginning.
“Hometown” was penned in her garden with co-writer Derek Connell, and it reflects the themes of home, renewal, and self-discovery. The recording process in Nashville, Tennessee, was filled with serendipitous moments, like being driven by a Lyft driver from Lorain, which reinforced the song’s message about the importance of roots and connections.
Jaclyn hopes that “Hometown” will resonate with listeners who feel a deep connection to their roots. The song, along with its b-side “Burn for You,” is available on vinyl and all streaming services, capturing the essence of finding everything you were searching for in your own backyard.
