in the shallows With Their Remarkable Track “let it go”

Introducing a talented band known as In The Shallows, when welsh singer-songwriter Danni Parsons found harmonic delight in the raw vocals of Kiwi rock and roller Lance Shepherd… Wellington-based Folk-Rock – Indie Pop band ‘In The Shallows’ was born. The band also features Andrew Bain (Fur Patrol) and Nick Brown (Eb & Sparrow, Vorn). In The Shallows offer up an exquisitely diverse and silken sound that weaves together soaring harmonies, mesmerizing vocals, and acoustic guitars with relatable lyrics about intricate tales of love, loss, connection, redemption, and empowerment. The upcoming singles Let’s Not Start a War (20.08.21) and There You Are have catchy hooks in common. When performing live their sound has been likened to that of Angus and Julia Stone and Fleetwood Mac. Lance has worked as a professional musician/producer since leaving high school. Based in London through the 2000s as a touring/recording guitarist with Martina Topley-Bird (ex Tricky) Lance has worked with a number of producers such as Johnny Dolla (Massive Attack) Leila Arab (Bjork) has played a number of high profile radio, television and live shows throughout Europe and the US including BBC2, France Inter, XFM, Later… With Jools Holland, Montreaux Jazz Festival, and SXSW. Born & raised in Wales, Danni settled in NZ in 2005. Once settled in Wellington she went on to co-write lyrics with Mara Simpson (Mara and the Bushkas) and performed alongside other well accomplished NZ musicians, in the Wellington band ‘Soul Caravan’. Following the release of their newest single “Let It Go,” they present a dreamy sound that will certainly intrigue your ears. Beginning with soothing instrumentation leading onto their sweet and soft vocals they complete the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s about a sweet kiwi summer song with a deep message that invokes a timely reflection upon unity and an acceptance of uncertainty. It encourages us to let go of expectations and attachments to how we think our lives ‘should’ look and realize we never really had ‘control’ anyway. Certainty is an illusion. Nothing is a given and in a time where there is so much division, we would benefit more from realizing that we are all more the same than we care to admit. All afraid of something. No one wants anyone we love to hurt or suffer. We’re all coming from the same place… all bearing an intense fear of loss and a deep love for our families, friends, and communities. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you vibing. It would be just great for a day out on the beach or hanging out with some friends. Go stream “Let It Go” and check out their discography which is filled with amazing music.
