Introducing Honeymack they are a six-piece indie soul band based in Louisville, KY. Their sound is a blend of funky guitars, innovative rhythms, and lush vocals that will charm fans of R&B, indie rock, and anything in between. Inspired by the likes of Stevie Wonder, Santana, and Erykah Badu, they aim to create captivating, polished soul music that is informed by the classics of old. Honeymack is the brainchild of singer, songwriter, and guitarist John Cromer. The band formed in late 2020 after John moved back to his hometown of Louisville, KY. After several years of making music alone in his bedroom, he yearned for a more collective environment to create in. John first pitched the vision to longtime collaborator Carly Rodman (percussion), who suggested that they reach out to local musicians Zac Anderson (lead guitar) and Izak Cirillo (bass). Knowing the sound would need keys, John also connected with Déquan Tunstull (keyboard) through a connection in the Louisville jazz community. Shortly thereafter, Carly reached out to the only member of the band who is not from Louisville, Wes Greer (drums), to drum. After spending the latter half of 2020 practicing in a repurposed chapel, Honeymack had honed in on their soulful, charismatic style. In 2021, they began gigging around local bars and clubs in Louisville and developed a reputation as an exciting and entertaining live act that engages the crowd during every second of their sets. These performances quickly led to a devoted following of local fans that were soon asking the band to record and release music. In late April of 2022, WFPK debuted Honeymack’s debut single “Moonsong,” which garnered a moderate online buzz. Following the release of their newest single “Comfortable”, they project a sizzling sound that will definitely captivate your ears. Beginning with groovy instrumentation leading onto John’s sweet and sultry vocals they complete the song fully. To explain the track a bit further it’s about liking someone you have spotted and wanting to take them home and eventually making them feel comfortable with you since you have a big crush on them.
