Meet Claire Brooks, the talented independent musician from Los Angeles, CA. In an interview, Claire shared that she wrote the lyrics and melody of “Millionaire” about 9 months into the pandemic, in December 2020. Living alone in a new city during the pandemic, she couldn’t make any friends and found solace in technology and the internet. She wrote the lyrics over a random “Jazzy Rnb Type Beat” on YouTube, simply wanting to express her feelings through music. The song stuck with her, and she always knew she wanted to release it. A few months ago, she sang the acapella for her cousin, a producer, who knew he had to cook it up and make it special. And thus, “Millionaire” was born. Claire admits that she doesn’t particularly like having to chase success in the social bubble that is technology, but she understands that playing the game of social media is essential for success. This results in her being super addicted to her phone, which is ultimately what “Millionaire” is about. As Claire continues to work on her first EP, fans eagerly await more music from this rising star. With a sound that is both unique and refreshing, she is sure to make waves in the music industry.
