Upcoming artist Cassie Marin is a Los Angeles-based vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. Constantly exploring new musical and visual dimensions, Marin has emerged as an avant-garde luminary in the left-of-center pop space. Growing up in Miami, Marin spent much of her childhood training as a gymnast with dreams of going to the Olympics. After her gymnastics career ended abruptly when she suffered a serious injury at the age of 13, she found solace in her love for music. She’d been playing piano from the age of four and had been writing poetry for years, so it was a natural next step for her to begin composing her own songs as she attempted to come to terms with this major life change. Teaching herself to produce music as well, Marin approached her musical aspirations with the same grit and self-discipline that had once driven her Olympic ambitions. After a handful of successful releases — including her debut album, Plastique Days, and the follow-up EP, ’S.O.S’ — Marin relocated from Florida to Los Angeles in 2019. “I had no family here, no friends, no association of any kind, but when I saw the mountains from the window of the plane ride, I started to feel something growing,” she writes of the move. “Once I touched the ground and breathed in the cool fresh air, I was hooked. Driving around and seeing all these different people really made me feel at home for some reason.” Combining layered and forward-thinking electronica production with catchy melodies, poetic lyricism, and her distinctly saccharine vocals, Marin has carved out a sonic lane all of her own. She’s amassed millions of streams across her repertoire and has been named an artist to watch by tastemakers like TikTok, Ones To Watch, and EUPHORIA.
