Carson Ferris’ Powerful New Single “Ghosts”

Carson Ferris, the American pop artist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Provo, Utah, is making waves with his latest single “Ghosts.” Known for his debut single “Can’t Be Without You,” a collaboration with Trinidad Cardona, and his breakout moment in 2021 when he won a social media contest that led to his video being featured in Donny Osmond’s Las Vegas show, Carson has continued to build a strong presence in the music industry. His second single, “Favorite Time of Year,” has nearly 400,000 streams in its first year and earned him a spot on the Spotify Editorial Playlist “This Is Trinidad Cardona.”

“Ghosts” is an electro-pop song with a cool vibe and a deeper, heavier meaning. Drawing from personal experiences and observations, Carson was inspired to write a song that speaks to those in toxic or unhealthy relationships or situations. The main theme of the song is that forgiving someone doesn’t mean they have to remain in your life. This powerful message resonates throughout the track, blending emotional vocals and lyrics with electronic beats and chill vibes.

In his first collaboration with producer Matthew Parker, Carson initially aimed to create a dance track reminiscent of Dua Lipa’s style. However, the tempo of “Ghosts” is slower, leaning towards a synth and drum-heavy sound characteristic of electronic music. The result is a perfect fusion of heartfelt lyrics and dynamic production.

Carson shared his thoughts on “Ghosts,” saying, “Ghosts is a song about letting go and moving on from situations and people that aren’t good for you. In the bridge, the lyrics say that moving on is the only way things can be okay. That’s definitely true. Holding on to things like that will only cause more resentment. Sometimes it can be really hard to do, but it’s a necessary part of life that we can all relate to. I think forgiveness is an important part of moving on, so I put a lot of emphasis on that in ‘Ghosts.’ You can’t let go until you forgive, even if it seems easier to hold a grudge.”

He added, “There are a lot of strong emotions in this song, and I love the way the production conveys that. It was a huge pleasure working with Matthew Parker on this one!”

“Ghosts” is Carson’s first single in almost nine months, following 2023’s “Talkin’ to You.” This new track brings a more electronic feel compared to his previous songs, akin to a remix by Kygo or Marshmello. Written by Carson Ferris and produced, mixed, and mastered by Matthew Parker, “Ghosts” also marks a new milestone as Carson recorded all his vocals in his home studio.

As Carson continues to write new music and spend time in the studio, his fans eagerly anticipate what comes next. With “Ghosts,” Carson Ferris reaffirms his place as a rising star in the pop and electronic music scene, delivering a poignant message wrapped in a captivating sound.
