Vitesse X is an electronic music artist who has created a unique sound that blends the history of rave music with a technical approach. After spending years playing in bands and DJing around her native New York, Vitesse X launched her solo career to connect with herself and the euphoric spirit of the dancefloor. Her songs celebrate the history of rave music as a vehicle for surreal, otherworldly, and emotional pop songs. In 2020, when the pandemic hit, Vitesse X began writing songs without any expectations and found the process intensely cathartic. This led to her most honest output to date and what eventually took shape into her debut solo album for 100% Electronica called “Us Ephemeral.” The album is heavily inspired by Kraftwerk’s Tour de France and features ambient techno, ’90s rave, and coldwave beats. Vitesse X sings about what weighs heavy on her heart, using her songs as a conduit for connection. Vitesse X fell in love with music as a teenager listening to acts like Radiohead, Aphex Twin, and Four Tet, who wrung powerful feelings out of intricate, genre-blurring productions. She started taking ownership of her music when she went to college in Virginia, where she began playing guitar and bass in punk, shoegaze, and chillwave outfits. She met and played shows with 100% Electronica’s eventual founder George Clanton, who was then performing as Mirror Kisses. They were kindred spirits, and that connection led to her having a place on the label. After gaining ground in the early 2010s blog scene, Vitesse X’s bands began to get offers to tour around the country, inspiring her to drop out of college and move to New York. However, after a stint in another established group in the city, she decided it was time for a change. Burned out on road life and other people’s bands, she zeroed in on her craft and the music that meant the most to her. Working as an engineer and producer, Vitesse X became an in-demand name in the New York scene and developed her technical abilities. For Vitesse X, music is an escapist thing. She aims to help people connect and transcend with her music, as demonstrated in her newest single “Right Now.” The song is about reclaiming the current moment amidst the constant go-go-go and fighting against the addiction to the race. The music video for “Right Now” features Vitesse X taking a trip out to Montauk on a cold weekend in January, where she captures and re-experiences those tranquil moments of solitude in nature. She completely stripped down to give the most honest and raw emotion that she could. Vitesse X has created a unique sound that celebrates the ecstatic potential of the club, and her music is a fitting soundtrack for the nights that you want to last forever. With her debut album “Us Ephemeral” and her newest single “Right Now,” Vitesse X continues to create music that transcends time and place and celebrates the power of connection.
