Cory Dennis, known as Shopgirl, is a solo artist hailing from Austin, Texas. Previously the frontman of synth-pop trio Sphynx, Dennis has shared the stage with artists such as Walk the Moon, Imagine Dragons, Jungle, and Questlove, and has performed at festivals such as Austin City Limits, SXSW, CMJ, and Bunbury. The band received recognition from NPR, USA Today, Fuse, Dallas Observer, Austin American Statesman, and other notable PR outlets in the US and Europe. Their song “Shadow” was even featured in the series finale of the popular TV show Nashville. After nearly 9 years of creating and touring together, Sphynx disbanded in 2019, and Shopgirl was born. Shopgirl’s music effortlessly blends the moods of the west Texas desert with the energy of the city, creating a unique blend of chaos, magic, and wonder. Shopgirl’s newest track, “Changes,” deals with the inevitable and unpredictable nature of life. The song takes listeners on a journey through the artist’s life and into the future, exploring themes of life, love, loss, and acceptance of change. If you’re a fan of pop music with a touch of whimsy and introspection, be sure to check out Shopgirl’s “Changes” and his other releases. You won’t be disappointed.
