Astounding artist Middle Part is a Brooklyn-based indie pop act who creates synth-laden music from a place of honesty and sincerity, taking inspiration from both ’90s and early Millenium alternative bands. Middle Part was born when singer Andrew Selkōw, found himself in a serious depression and had to escape his current reality. He packed up his life in Nashville and set out on a journey to Alaska – not just to “find himself,” but to figure out how to live with himself. He took to songwriting as a way to cope with the emotions he was experiencing throughout what he describes as a monotonous and lonely experience. He then moved to Brooklyn, where those same songs – written in his darkest times – found a new light. The chance to absorb all of what the eclectic and vibrant Brooklyn music scene has to offer led to what would become Andrew’s highly acclaimed debut EP I Wish I Was Alive (Dec 2020), giving the world their first glimpse of the budding Brooklyn artist while also landing him placements on Spotify’s editorial playlists including Lorem, Fresh Finds, Fresh Finds Indie, Fresh Finds Class of 2021, Indie Pop and Indie Pop & Chill. Following the release of his newest single “So Dramatic,” he presents a sensational sound that will certainly captivate your attention. Starting with dreamy instrumentation leading onto his bright and full vocals he completes the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s a pensive slow burn that chronicles a dispute over the gravity of our interpersonal actions. The song floats on a bed of delicate guitars as singer Andrew Selkōw admits to the person they address in the song, “You might be right / Yeah I’ll probably lose my mind / At least I’m lost in it / Everything is temporary”. The track’s introspective lyrics observe how friendships can be a double-sided coin of apathetic loss and desperate attempts at connection. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you vibing. Being just perfect for a drive during sunset or a day out on the beach. Go stream “So Dramatic” and check out his discography which is filled with amazing music.
