Oustanding artist Crystal Rose is an independent artist steeped in the sounds of dreamy soul, alternative pop, and the heartfelt tinges of folk music. As a passionate singer/songwriter, Crystal Rose seems to always bring an emotional immediacy to her work, as felt in her newest EP Anew (to be released). Anew was written in collaboration with her good friend and old roommate, guitarist/producer Emiliano Trevena. Her songs and voice are both intimate and soft, yet powerful and hypnotizing. Crystal Rose’s work has earned her comparisons to pioneering artists such as Janet Jackson, Frou Frou, Diana Ross, Solange, Bjork, and Minnie Riperton. Crystal Rose grew up in San Diego, CA, learning the ropes of performing through singing in cover bands from age 13, and the spiritual aspects of music through her mom’s musical culture in the Philippines. Crystal Rose has fond memories of eating a bowl of garlic rice while watching her mom belt out classics in a Filipino buffet-style restaurant in National City, California. Crystal Rose would get up to do the same thing, focusing on singing her Disney ballads, mimicking vocal all-stars, and breaking through her shyness in song. Following the release of her newest single “Thought I’d Say” she presents a nostalgic sound that will definitely grasp your attention. Beginning with dreamy instrumentation leading onto her sweet and luscious vocals she captures the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s purposefully playful and light, depicting a trustworthy love connection and friendship. To the vocals and production, this single will certainly have you vibing. It would be just great for a drive during sunset or a day out on the beach. Go stream “Thought I’d Say” and check out her discography which is filled with amazing tracks.
