Introducing riley parker she started in 2015 after relocating to Nashville from Pensacola, Florida. Soon after arriving, she joined a songwriting group named “The Pizza Collective.” The only requirement to be a member was to write one song every week or suffer the penalty of paying $1 to the pizza jar. Through this community, she honed her songwriting skills with discipline and attention, rarely missing a week for over a year. Growing up as a gay woman living in the American South, Tegan and Sara were the only out, queer artists whose music made her feel safe and understood. Since there is still such a massive hole representing her experience in their collective cultural nexus, she decided to incorporate her sexuality into her songs hoping to offer help to somebody else by validating their experience, as Tegan and Sara did for her. With the release of her newest track “Discover” she projects a dreamy sound that will surely intrigue your attention. Beginning with soft instrumentation leading onto her sweet and sultry vocals she captures the song fully. Explaining the track a bit further it’s an LGBTQIA+ anthem written right before coming out to her family inspired by the anger she felt when a friend did not receive a caring response after coming out to her family. It is important to her as a songwriter to offer support by producing music that makes others feel less alone. To the vocals and production, this single will definitely have you vibing and even singing along to the lyrics. It would be just great for a late-night drive or alone within your thoughts. Go stream “Discover” and check out her discography which is filled with outstanding music.
