Introducing an outstanding act known as Niko you can expect solid indie songs coated in 70s glam and 00’s rock. This Dutch band previously a solo project that began on a trip to LA was born with the release of their EP You Might Like It, But I Might Just Hate It in 2018. Released on cassette, it’s filled with edgy guitars and choruses that make you feel like you’re cruising down the A4 when you sing along. After a wide variety of shows and festivals, they recorded a new EP called Melk which was released in August 2019. The six songs, produced by Tom Meijer, saw Niko carving deeper into their raw, catchy sound. Look forward to refinement from this partnership with their upcoming debut album as they polish off poppy sounds with backhanded lyrics. With the release of their newest track “Pick Me Up,” they project a sensational sound that will certainly captivate your attention. Starting with nostalgic instrumentation leading onto their smooth and ear-catching vocals they capture the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s about wanting to be saved from feeling disconnected from society. The opening lyrics were inspired by the state a band member was in “Psychological problems are a good enough reason to go around jobless. Whatever you want. Whatever you need.” Accompanied by a danceable beat referencing a party vibe, the song picks you up from whatever state you’re in. To the vocals and production, this single will definitely have you dancing. Being just perfect for a drive during sunset or a day out on the beach. Go stream “Pick Me Up” and check out their discography which is filled with amazing songs.
