Talented artist Tishmal is the debut solo project of Rachel Brockbank. Tishmal means “hummingbird” in Luiseño, the language of her Native American heritage. The name was given to her as a young girl, around the same time she began to write music. Tishmal’s star is rapidly rising, with opening dates for CHVRCHES, Zara Larsson, The Aces, Hippie Sabotage, and XYLØ. Her brand of brooding, poetic pop is finding a home with fans of other female powerhouses like Lorde and Tove Lo. Starting 2021 on a high, Tishmal featured on Kaskade’s dance hit “New James Dean” as well as doing an exclusive live session with Free People and Allsaints. Tishmal will be reaching new heights in 2022, releasing original music in collaboration with producer Christian Medice and Daniel Pashman. Following the release of her newest single “You Got So High” she projects a sizzling sound that will definitely captivate your ears. Beginning with bright instrumentation leading onto her full and luscious vocals she completes the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s about the drugs and skater influences she grew up around, but the real theme is the grief of losing a friend or secret love- the way those feelings stay with us over the years. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you jamming out and even singing along to the lyrics. Being just perfect for a late-night drive or a walk down the beach after dawn. Go stream “You Got So High” and check out her discography which is filled with astounding tracks.
