Introducing an amazing group known as Man Apart their music is both fresh and timeless, featuring original sounds with lyrics centered around family, blood, faith, and love and covering classic hit songs that everyone loves. When asked about their passion for music, they say “As family members, music is what binds us together and makes us relatable. We’ve had the ups, but we’ve had the downs, our music helps us share these messages of excitement, remorse, and encouragement.” Phillip Kinsey and Caleb Roddy formed the group with high school friends in 2004. Shortly after, the band needed a drummer, and Pepper Kinsey, a veteran drummer, and Phillip’s dad fit the bill. The band gained popularity when Umcolisi Terrell, a brilliant saxophonist, joined the team. In 2007 they were featured as a finalist on the SHOUTFEST tour’s battle of the bands. This success led them to Nashville to showcase in front of a major label when they were profoundly struck with disappointment. They would consider the band but only if they had a younger drummer. A watershed moment occurred, industry or family. Man Apart chose family and has never regretted it since. Man Apart continued to tour and released their third EP in 2010. Shortly thereafter they decided to take a hiatus to focus on building their individual families and careers. Umcolisi went on to an incredibly successful music career in Atlanta, GA. Phillip married Caleb’s sister and Caleb was married as well. Together, the band has six 6 beautiful children who are all musically inclined. In 2019 Pepper brought Phillip and Caleb back together and they have been prolifically writing and performing ever since. In 2021 alone, they performed 42 times and hit the studio again. In 2022, Man Apart will be releasing brand new music thanks to the amazing support from their fans (whom they like to call family). With the release of their newest single “Light Brigade,” they project a phenomenal sound that will definitely captivate your attention. Starting with bright instrumentation leading onto their sweet and powerful vocals they complete the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s inspired by the infamous poem “The Charge of the Light Brigade” by Tennyson, this pop-rock anthem speaks of desperation, foolhardiness, and ultimately salvation. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you jamming out. Being just great for a drive during sunset or a day out on the beach. Go stream “Light Brigade”.
