Upcoming artist Hanna Ögonsten was born in Åkersberga, a suburb outside of Stockholm, on 21st August 1996. She grew up with her three siblings and her divorced parents, she describes it as ‘’sometimes tough, but very creative.’’ Her father worked with excavators and her mother was an assistant nurse. They gave her the middle name ’Ögonsten’ – which is a Swedish saying for ‘’apple of my eye’’. Her mother was an artistic soul and loved to create, their house functioned as a canvas and became a place to make imaginations come alive. Hanna taught herself guitar, piano, and music production in her bedroom at a young age. In her teenage years, Hanna was accepted to the leading music school in Sweden, Musikmakarna, where artists such as LÉON, KIDDO, and SHY Martin went. During her time at the school, she came in contact with the music industry for the first time and wrote songs that appeared on Swedish Television, Vogue Paris, Triple J, and JAY-Z’s management, and in 2019 she opened for Anna Of The North on her tour in Stockholm. Following the release of her debut single “Bang My Head”, she presents a vibrant sound that will surely grasp your ears. Beginning with bright instrumentation leading onto her sweet and catchy vocals she captures the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s about meeting someone and instantly falling for them, once you get to know them more you realize they aren’t the person you thought they were, so now you feel sad and they have left you distraught regretting ever meeting them. I really like the metaphor Hanna uses “I bang my head against the wall” it surely signifies the emotion of when you really just want to forget about someone and never think about them ever again. To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you jamming out. Being just perfect for a late-night drive or alone within your thoughts. Go stream “Bang My Head” and be on the lookout for new music from this amazing act.
