Inspired early on by singers like Erykah Badu and Alicia Keys, and current influences like Banks and H.E.R, Madeleine created her own authentic style – best described as Alternative R&B. Her love for music started at a young age when she sang in the children’s church choir and her biggest musical idol was Michael Jackson. Growing up in Freiburg, Germany, she started singing in choirs at the age of 4 and taking piano lessons at the age of 7. After high school, she got accepted to one of Germany’s highly competitive Jazz universities – the Hochschule for Musik “Franz Liszt” Weimar – where she studied Jazz Voice with renowned teachers such as Jeff Cascaro, Michael Schiefel, and Frank Möbus and completed her Bachelor of Music degree. In 2013, she was chosen among over 200 applicants for the famous Pop Music program “Popkurs” in Hamburg with teachers such as Peter Weihe and Jane Comerford. In Fall 2014, she attended Berklee College of Music in Boston on a merit-based scholarship with a focus on Songwriting and Performance, where her teachers included Gabrielle Goodman, Livingston Taylor, and Lenny Stallworth. She is currently working on new music and performing in the Los Angeles area. With the release of her newest track “Obsessed”, she projects a dreamy sound that will certainly grasp your ears. Beginning with soothing instrumentation leading onto her lively and bright vocals she captures the song entirely. Explaining the track a bit further it’s about a past romance the main “what-if” question is “Oh what if we now meet again?” – to quote the song. The relaxed, storytelling verses lead up to an energetic chorus that expresses the exhilarating but also obsessive infatuation with someone. “During this time when we all had to stay at home so much, I tended to give room to all my daydreaming and fantasies and used them as inspiration for my songwriting. And in this song, it’s about a relationship or romantic encounter from the past that might feel unfinished and you wonder if you met that person again, would there still be a spark? And then you can’t stop thinking about the person and the possibilities and start kind of obsessing – hence the name of the song.” To the vocals and production, this single will surely have you vibing. Being just perfect for a late-night drive or alone within your thoughts. Go stream “Obsessed” and check out her discography which is filled with amazing music.
