Introducing a very talented artist I recently stumbled upon known as Tishmal she’s a solo project of Rachel Brockbank. Tishmal means “hummingbird” in Luiseño, the language of her Native American heritage. The name was given to her as a young girl, around the same time she began to write music. Tishmal’s star is rapidly rising, opening dates for CHVRCHES, Zara Larsson, The Aces, Hippie Sabotage, and XYLØ. Her brand of brooding, poetic pop is finding a home with fans of other female powerhouses like Lorde and Tove Lo. Starting 2021 on a high, Tishmal featured on Kaskade’s dance hit “New James Dean” as well as doing an exclusive live session with Free People. In her newest single “On My Way Up” she projects a very luscious sound that will surely captivate your ears. Starting with soothing instrumentation leading onto her sweet and soft vocals she presents a such dreamy feeling. Explaining the track further it’s about combating anxiety and telling yourself things will be okay and not worrying so much about what would happen next. To the vocals and production, this track will definitely have you dancing. Being just perfect for a late-night drive or out by the beach. Go stream “On My Way Up” and check out her discography which is filled with astounding tracks.
