Indie pop producer-singer Jxst J (pronounced “just j”) creates colorful, transportive songs from his NYC apartment. Drawing from genres like dream pop, indie, and trip-hop, he seamlessly blends acoustic and electronic elements for a sound that is as eclectic as it is catchy. Watson is a visual artist just as much as he is a musician, something he was recognized for by FADER when he released lo-fi visuals with his band Pratley. Now he brings that vision to Jxst J with trippy, arthouse music videos shot primarily on Super 8 film. Jxst J also maintains a growing team of visual collaborators, including filmmaker Andrew Balasia (Wet, Phil Good), photographer Roman Koval (Joji, Eckhaus Latta) and designer Miles Wintner (Cherry Glazerr, (Sandy) Alex G). Last year, Jxst J released his first two singles Threw It All Away and Like U Used 2 to stellar reviews. Wonderland Magazine said “the singer’s enthralling vocals has us breaking the repeat button” and FLAUNT excitedly declared that Jxst J “has developed a sound that has positioned him in the vein of 90s R’n’B, lo-fi, vaporwave all encapsulating an eclectic electronic ease”. At the end of last year, Jxst J landed his first sync with his song ‘Like U Used 2’, which was featured on an episode of an upcoming docuseries on Roku’s new streaming network.
