Sloan Treacy Explores Heartbreak and Growth in “Common Knowledge”

At just 16 years old, Sloan Treacy is already carving out a space for herself as a thoughtful and emotionally attuned songwriter. Inspired by artists like Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Stevie Nicks, Sloan’s connection to music began early, rooted in family and collaboration. Her father, a guitarist, played a pivotal role in shaping her creative process, often bringing chord progressions or acoustic riffs to life while Sloan layered melodies and lyrics on top. That organic, collaborative foundation still echoes through her music today, giving her songs a sense of intimacy and honesty that feels well beyond her years.

Outside of music, Sloan is just as multifaceted. She’s an avid reader, enjoys baking in her downtime, and runs track for her high school team. Recently relocating to Franklin, Tennessee, she’s found herself immersed in a vibrant music community just outside of Nashville. The move has only deepened her passion for live performance and songwriting. Concert-going remains one of her greatest joys, and the idea of touring and sharing her music with listeners who truly connect with it is something she eagerly looks forward to.

Sloan’s newest single, “Common Knowledge,” marks a significant step forward in her artistic evolution. Recorded between Los Angeles and Nashville, the track was produced by Don Miggs and mixed by Grammy-nominee Mark Needham, blending polished production with raw emotional clarity. The song explores the unsettling feeling of realizing someone was quietly working against you while everyone else seemed to know all along. It captures that moment of emotional whiplash—feeling naive, blindsided, and almost embarrassed when no one warned you, only to later act as if the outcome had been obvious. Sloan’s delivery is vulnerable yet assured, turning a deeply personal experience into something universally relatable.

“Common Knowledge” serves as the first single from Sloan’s forthcoming album, Aftermath, set for release in 2026. The album will include songs from her sophomore EP, was any of it real?, along with six new tracks that chronicle a meaningful period of self-discovery. While much of the album was written in Los Angeles, it truly came alive in Nashville, where Sloan recorded with a full live band. That collaborative environment added new depth and energy to the songs, making the experience both creatively inspiring and genuinely fun. Following the release of her debut EP Stuck in 2024, Sloan Treacy continues to prove that her voice—both lyrically and artistically—is one worth paying attention to, especially as she steps confidently into this next chapter.
