HAUNTER’s “GAME BOY” is a Love Letter to the Misfits

Rising pop-rock band HAUNTER is making waves with the release of their debut EP, GAME BOY, a six-track journey built on late-night dreams, raw nostalgia, and fearless vulnerability. From the first note, the EP immerses listeners in the messy, emotional, and unapologetically human experiences of growing up — from summer love to toxic entanglements, self-discovery, and the exhilarating terror of chasing your dreams. Each song feels like a chapter in a shared story, one that will resonate with anyone who thought adulthood or love would be simpler than it turned out to be.

The band, composed of Lucy LeNoir on vocals, Enoma Asowata and Mike Ray on guitars, and Mark Schroeder on bass, came together almost by fate. A chance meeting at a House of Blues show in Houston sparked an instant creative connection between Enoma and Lucy. “She blew me away,” Enoma recalls. “There was just this spark — I knew we had to build something real.” That spark ignited a journey of demos, songwriting, and a cross-country trip to Los Angeles to collaborate with producer Tyler Smyth, known for his work with I Prevail and Falling in Reverse. Along the way, HAUNTER shed early versions of themselves in favor of a sound that felt completely authentic. “We stopped pretending to be a ‘pop band’ and just started being us,” says Enoma. “Slightly off-center, rough around the edges, and completely real.”

Lead singer Lucy LeNoir embodies that authenticity. A small-town Texas kid who was often told she was “too loud, too much,” Lucy found her voice and confidence within HAUNTER. “I wasn’t made to fit in. I was made to stand out — and stand proud,” she explains. For Enoma, a first-generation Nigerian-American, the music has been a lifeline, a way to navigate cultural expectations and the feeling of being an outsider. “GAME BOY is our love letter to the kids who never felt like they belonged. We’re proof that the outcasts can build something beautiful.”

The title track, “Game Boy,” perfectly captures HAUNTER’s high-energy pop-rock ethos, blending electrifying guitars, infectious hooks, and a beat that drives like a summer night on the highway. It’s a song made for blasting with the windows down or getting hyped for a night out, encapsulating the thrill of endless gaming sessions and late-night adventures. Across the EP, tracks like “Catch Me If You Can,” “Strangers,” “City Boys x Pretty Girls,” and “Untouchable” explore toxic entanglements, self-love, authenticity, and the daring pursuit of dreams. HAUNTER balances candy-coated pop-punk fun with moments of heartfelt vulnerability, creating an emotional rollercoaster that feels both personal and universal.

Co-written and produced by Tyler Smyth, GAME BOY demonstrates HAUNTER’s fearless approach to storytelling and their refusal to play it safe. From sun-soaked anthems to deeply introspective finales, the EP is a statement of intent. HAUNTER isn’t just introducing themselves to the world; they’re declaring their truth, loud, proud, and impossible to ignore.
