It takes a rare blend of vulnerability and precision to create music that feels as personal as it is polished. But LA-based artist, producer, and engineer SOZI does exactly that with “BLOOM,” her stunning debut EP that marks the first chapter in a four-part series called Seasons. Written, solo-produced, and co-mixed by SOZI herself, “BLOOM” is more than a collection of songs—it’s a sonic metamorphosis, a heartfelt journey through self-discovery and emotional rebirth.
The project opens with “Seconds,” a shimmering and melancholic meditation on the relentless pressure of time. There’s a quiet chaos here, wrapped in dreamy synth textures and a beat that pulses like a ticking clock. It’s one of those songs that feels like it was plucked directly from your diary during a particularly introspective midnight spiral.
Then comes “Fall Away,” a track that sounds like surrender—but not in a defeated way. It’s surrender as release, as healing. The soundscape is lush yet airy, and the hook sinks in softly but powerfully. “I’m done with holding on to versions of me that I outgrew,” she confesses, letting go of the dead weight of who she used to be. There’s something incredibly freeing about hearing someone put words to that invisible process of emotional pruning—tearing away the parts of ourselves that no longer serve us, to make space for something new.
“Just For A Minute” arrives like a breath of fresh air. It’s a light, glimmering track with a euphoric undercurrent, and it perfectly embodies the dream of stepping outside your own mind, if only temporarily. It’s escapism with heart, anchored by SOZI’s clear vision and precise production.
The final track, “Set Me Free,” is both a proclamation and a promise. With its punchy percussion and soaring vocal runs, SOZI emerges from the chrysalis fully formed. It’s an anthemic closer that ties together the themes of the EP with a triumphant bow, leaving listeners not only inspired, but recharged.
To celebrate the release, SOZI curated The Bloom Experience—a live event that was just as intentional and radiant as the EP itself. Held at the elegant Madeline Garden in Pasadena, the event featured a live acoustic performance with harp and guitar, offering a delicate and intimate interpretation of the tracks. Attendees were treated to a beautifully curated high tea, sponsored gift bags, and a creative atmosphere that honored the season of spring as much as the music. It wasn’t just a listening party—it was a celebration of growth, connection, and artistry.
With “BLOOM,” SOZI has done more than step into the spotlight—she’s crafted it herself, note by note, lyric by lyric. This is just the beginning of her Seasons project, but already, it’s clear: she’s not just blooming, she’s thriving.
