In 2024, Noak Hellsing continues to expand his musical horizons with a series of new singles and the much-anticipated launch of his second EP, SHIFT. Scheduled for release Today via TEN Records, SHIFT is a collection of five tracks that highlight Noak’s wide array of influences and impressive vocal range. The EP is led by the focus track “Good News.”
SHIFT traverses genres from soul, disco, and 80s soft rock to Calipop and more experimental sounds, all while maintaining sharp songwriting and a distinct artistic identity. This EP marks another significant milestone for Noak, following his debut EP, YESTERYEAR. This time, he explores new musical territories, blending influences from lo-fi pop, soul, disco, and 80s soft rock.
Noak’s musical explorations are particularly evident in tracks like “All Day” and the EP’s focal point, “Good News,” which carries a Phil Collins-esque vibe. Despite the diverse roots of these songs, Noak remains firmly grounded in each style. Reflecting on the creation of this EP, Noak shares, “A lot has changed in my life in a short period. I’ve been working more abroad and meeting new people. The world is apparently bigger than Stockholm. Looking back at the creation of this EP, I see a happy but confused person who has realized it’s okay not to know exactly what you’re doing. The title sums up a stage in life where I’m heading somewhere without knowing exactly where. Cheers to change!”
