Yoyo Nagase’s Latest Release “i hate my roommate” Explores the Complexity of Roommate Relationships

Yoyo Nagase is an up-and-coming musical artist who has a passion for sharing his real-life experiences through music. Born to immigrant parents from Japan and Taiwan, Yoyo had a challenging time growing up, struggling to connect with his peers and fully express his thoughts due to cultural differences. However, music became his medium to express his true feelings, and he has been pursuing it ever since. Yoyo’s most recent project, “i don’t care,” is a collaboration with pluto koi, a kid named rufus, and pretty havoc that centers around mental health and finding ways to live in the moment. In this project, Yoyo hopes to inspire listeners to embrace their true selves and find their place in the world. In his newest single, “i hate my roommate,” Yoyo explores the theme of friendship in a unique way. While whale watching in Iceland, Yoyo felt a sense of dread about returning home from vacation, but he was looking forward to seeing his best friends, his roommates. Despite loving them, Yoyo found himself feeling frustrated by their perfectness. Inspired by Mike Errico’s “Music, Lyrics, and Life,” Yoyo decided to write a song from a different perspective, and thus “i hate my roommate” was born. Yoyo’s upcoming projects in 2023 are centered around his experiences living in New York, and he hopes that by sharing these stories, listeners from around the world can relate to the universal themes of fitting in, struggling with mental health, and finding their place in the world. Yoyo Nagase’s music is raw, honest, and heartfelt, and his ability to connect with his audience through his experiences is truly inspiring. His passion for music is evident in every note he plays and every word he sings, and we can’t wait to see what he has in store for us in the future.
